A Thought While Ironing

While ironing yesterday, I was thinking about how my mother taught me to iron. We started with the pillowcases because they were easy to do. Then we moved on to shirts. She told me the best way to iron a shirt was do the collar first, then the sleeves. Next we moved to the yolk and then each side leaving the back until last. Most things were all cotton when I was growing up so there was a lot
of ironing to do. I wasn't keen on ironing; especially if the weather was hot. But, my mother told me not to think of ironing as drudgry. She said as I ironed each piece to pray for the person that piece belonged to. I have always remembered that. I still iron shirts the same way she taught me and I still pray for the person whose garment I am ironing. And, it does seem to make my ironing go faster.
