I read about Jehoiakim. He was a godless king; a tyrant who committed atrocious sins and crimes. He is portrayed as living in incestuous relations with his mother, daughter-in-law, and stepmother, and was in the habit of murdering men, whose wives he then violated and whose property he seized.
Jeremiah tried to get Jehoiakim to turn from his wicked ways. God
intended to destroy these people if they didn't turn from their wicked
ways.
"For perhaps they will listen and turn from their evil ways, and then I can withhold all the punishment I am ready to pour out upon them because of their evil deeds. Tell them the Lord says: If you will not listen to me and obey the laws I have given you, and if you will not listen to my servants, the prophets—for I sent them again and again to warn you, but you would not listen to them." Jeremiah 3:3-5 (TLB)
Although they are terrible things he said, perhaps the things that Trump said will bring about an awakening of the sleeping people of America. Why? Because through the media we are seeing many more people admitting the atrocities that have happened to them. We are being forced to see just how much evil there is in our country. Even though the media isn't always 100% correct, if it wasn't for the media, we wouldn't have heard and seen those other famous words, "What difference, at this point, does it make?" spoken by a candidate. Maybe God is using the different medias to wake us up to how really godless our country is. Until we realize this and accept it, then and only then, is there hope that it will somehow return to God.
Lance Wallnau, a business consultant said, Trump challenged the large group of ministers who met with him recently at Trump Towers with is : "If you don't mind me saying so, I think you guys have gotten soft." Have pastors and we as Christians "gotten soft"? Are we afraid to share the fact that Heaven is real and Hell is hot?
When praying for the upcoming election, we need to first pray that God will cleanse our hearts of the sins we have committed and perhaps..............just perhaps, He will withhold His judgement and heal our land.
