Myammar Gaddafi died 5 years ago yesterday.
Libya's former justice minister has told a Swedish newspaper that Colonel Gaddafi personally ordered the Lockerbie bombing of the jumbo jet that carried 258 people to their death in December of 1988.

Sandy Phillips was our families friend; an intelligent, funny, talented
and loyal college friend of both our daughters, Cathy, Cheryl and our
son-in-law, Clark. Sandy was a student at the U of A at the time Cheryl
and Clark were students. Sandy was a young man who loved playing the
guitar and singing. He was a talented writer of poems. He loved playing
golf and camping and loved to ski.
After attending the U of A, Sandy enrolled at Syracuse University and at 27 years of age, he was a victim of Pam Am 103. As news came of the death of Muammar Gaddaffi, I remember feeling relief that the accused mastermind of the Pan Am bombing was dead and that Sandy's family and friends could finally rest in that fact twenty-three years after the loss of their son.
I wrote this poem for Sandy's dad, step-mom and mother after Sandy's death.
May God who knows and cares enough,
To send His only Son.
Be with you as you face each day
With the prayer "Thy will be done."
For it's only letting go of trials,
And, placing them in His hand.
That He will give you perfect peace
And, give you strength to stand.
I know this time is very hard,
You're burdened and distressed.
But God who knows each of our cares,
Would have you be at rest.

Why would God allow the death of so many young people who were just embarking on life? Why would an evil man want to see the death of so many? It's been said that Gaddaffi hated America because we were friends of Israel. Could that have been the reason or was he just so evil, he was bent on killing innocents?
It is so easy to become angry when we feel an injustice has been committed.
And, yet, as evil as this man was, he was still one of God's creations. God loved him just as He loves you and me. Those thoughts are a battle I will have to fight in my own mind as I think of Sandy and the other innocent victims of Flight 103 as well as those lives that have been lost due to Osama Bin Laden, who was responsible for the loss of almost 3,000 lives on September 11th, 2001 attacks.
There are many questions none of us will have the answer to until we reach our Heavenly rest.
"In the same way, we can see and understand only a little about God now, as if we were peering at his reflection in a poor mirror; but someday we are going to see him in his completeness, face-to-face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now." 1 Corinthians 13:12 (TLB)
The picture below is Sandy and Cheryl at Cheryl and Clark's wedding. He rode his motorcycle from Little Rock to Berryville just to attend. He was a true friend............
