Some of you who are checking my status and blog daily are probably wondering why my story of times past has not been posted today. I do have more memories to share like those I have shared in the past. And, I will share those next week. However, today as I woke up to a hard rain, God reminded of these verses:
“There is a saying, ‘Love your friends and hate your enemies. But I say: Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way you will be acting as true sons of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust too. If you love only those who love you, what good is that? Even scoundrels do that much. If you are friendly only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even the heathen do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. Matt.5:43-48 TLB
God blesses the whole earth with rain, not just the faithful. Isn’t this an example of how we as Christians should behave? It’s very easy to love those who love us; difficult to love those who don’t. And, yet, Our Father in Heaven, not only loves those who love Him but He loves all of His creation whether they are deserving of that love or not. If we want to be more like the Father, then we must look around us; discover those who need our love and compassion and love them as though they were our friends. That’s easy to say but very difficult to do. Our Father didn’t promise us that the Christian life would be easy, did He? However, He did promise us a reward; a Heavenly Home with Him.
