Sunshine In My Window

I love standing at our kitchen sink in the wintertime. The sun has moved just far enough south that by midmorning the sun streams in and warms up our home. Oh, there are those dull, sunless, cold, rainy, blustery days in the winter. We have learned to expect that. But, when the sun comes up in the east early in the morning and frost glistens on the windows, my soul just feels lighter and my heart wants to sing.

I know we need the rain. And, sometimes I enjoy sitting and listening to it hitting the roof. It's enjoyable sometimes to sit in our window seat, look out over the yard and watch the raindrops hit the ground with a splash. But, when it has been dreary and raining for several days , you open the shades and the sun bursts forth and you feel so much better! Isn't it amazing what the sun can do for ones heart and soul?

It's amazing what the Son can do for our souls, too. He can make our hearts sing when we realize just how much He loves us and what He has done for us by coming into the world to forgive our sin.
" I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will praise God to my last breath! May he be pleased by all these thoughts about him, for he is the source of all my joy." Psalm 104:33-34 (TLB)

One day just as the rain comes down from the Heavens, so will our Lord come down for His people. Much like I draw back the curtains to see the morning sun, the curtain of time will be drawn back to reveal the true Son.

"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (NKJV)

Are you looking forward to His return?
