Telling Time

“When you learn to tell time, we’ll get you a watch,” my daddy said one day as I looked longingly into the jewelry case at the jewelry store. So, I worked very hard looking at the alarm clock by my parent’s bed and drawing clocks showing different times of day until I finally had it mastered.

Daddy found it at a pawn shop and knew it was just want I needed. It was a beautiful Mickey Mouse watch with a red, plastic band. I wore that little watch not even wanting to remove it to take a bath. It was set with the big hall clock at school and I knew exactly when the recess bell or lunch bell would ring. I knew when my mother said be back home from a friends at a certain time so there was no excuse for tardiness.

A watch can tell us a lot of things; particularly the new Apple watches. But, one thing it cannot tell us is when our Lord will return for those of us who are Believers. Are you waiting and watching for His return?

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Matthew 24:36 NIV
