Looking though my kitchen window at the clouds south of us, I am reminded of the rain storm that hit not far from us in the early morning hours. It brought thunder, lightening, torrential rain and flooding to the area. Many people had to be taken to higher ground to escape the high waters.
As a Believer, where is your higher ground when the storms of life come to your door; when you feel ...you will surely drown? Sometimes we feel like Job, or David, or Daniel in the lions den or the men in the firey furnace. Those men didn't expect the storms and most of us don't either. But, when they come, we question "Why"? We feel as Christians we should be safely abiding under God's wing rather than being bombarded by the flood waters of life. What we tend to forget is God is just as close to us during the storms of life as He is when the waters are calm. Perhaps it takes some flooding of our souls for us to be reminded that God is Sovereign. He is the Almighty King of the calm seas and mighty floods. If we can trust Him in good times, can we not trust Him in the storms?
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though it's waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging".
Psalm 46:1-3
