"Oh, dear, I can't wear this now but someday I might be able to. I just can't get rid of it right now."
"I love this little dish. I know it's here in the back of the cabinet where I can hardly reach it but it was my aunts and she loved it so I just can't part with it."
"I probably need to get rid of these books but, I might want to read them again someday."
"What is the harm in hanging on to this purse. Maybe it will come back in style".
Do we hang on to our sins like this? When God convicts us we need to get rid of some sin in our lives do we tell ourselves that sin really isn't a bad one and it's not harming anyone really? Do we hang on to some sin by shoving it back into the recesses of our minds much like we do the unused dish in the cabinet so we don't have to be confronted with it everyday?
What are the little sins we might be hanging on to? When our hearts are full of sin do we have room for God there?
"For I am closely watching you, and I see every sin. You cannot hope to hide from me." Jeremiah 16:17 (TLB)
