Ignorance of our Enemy

How many of us would have recognized the two young men who set off bombs that killed and maimed many in Boston? How many would have thought a very ordinary looking Timothy McVey would have killed many in Oklahoma City? How many would have thought twenty years ago, Susan Smith would have killed her young sons by drowning them?

Like our former pastor, Bro. Scott Cox, said one time, "Ignorance of our enemy, Satan, is a dangerous mistake. Too often we don't recognize the enemy. We will never win the battle against Satan unless we show up to fight. We cannot fight Satan on our own because he is more powerful. But we can defeat him when we surrender to God. It is then that we can access God's power in our lives. It is through our weakness that we experience our greatest strength."

Satan is the one who caused the atrocities I mentioned above. Had someone been able to recognize Satan, possibly those things would never have happened. Satan comes in many forms. He is the great deceiver; he manifests himself through false teachers; he takes the form of something beautiful causing desire; he brings about discontent, etc.

In order to defeat Satan, we need to pray continually and be in the Word. Has Satan attacked you recently? If he hasn't, he will...........

"Be careful—watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart." 1 Peter 5:8 (TLB)
