"But, Daaadddy, it's too hot" Daughter # 1 and #2 whined, "It's at least 105 degrees!"
But, Daddy insisted. "Quit whinin', we've got to get those potatoes out of the ground. They have been there too long now and it's only gonna get hotter. It's Saturday and it's a good time to get this done so get a move on."
So, out we trudged, grumbling all the way.

"Daddy, I'm hot!"
"Well, dig a little faster and we'll be through in no time."
"Can I go get a drink, Daddy?"
"Yes, but come right back."
So, the digging continued and might I add it was high noon; not morning or evening but 12:00.
The digging was finally completed and we all headed for the house for something cool to drink with the girls still complaining they would be sunburned and surely suffer from headaches or a heat stroke.
That evening, my husband managed to get all of the potatoes stored under the house where he said they would be cool and would keep.
A few weeks later, I ask John to retrieve some of the potatoes. He came back with a sheepish look on his face. It seems all of the potatoes had rotted. And, of course, the girls felt they were vindicated because of that.
Perhaps the time for digging potatoes was off. Perhaps, the hot sun had already begun to work on them before they were stored.
Do you ever feel God's timing is off when something doesn't turn out right? When you have prayed for God to do something and you feel he hasn't heard you?
"But don’t forget this, dear friends, that a day or a thousand years from now is like tomorrow to the Lord." 2 Peter 3:8 (TLB)
